I've got increasingly irked about the continual barrage of nests on Springwatch. We all know why they do it ... ..... those nests are there 24/7 ... ...... so if there's nowt to see most of the day ... they show us a nest. ........ and then "viewers" can go "aaaah !" .......... and sometimes ... " oooh noooo !" ........... when some chicks get gobbled up by a Double-Crested-Egg-Gobbler. ............ and there'll come the day when... ..........those D-C-E-Gs will learn to recognise those huge vans full of screens ............ and the tracks of their tears , sorry, tyres, .......... and those cheery presenters trampling a path to said nest sites ............. and rats and weasels and oologists will follow in their wake ............... oo they are noobody knoos. ............. and then there'll be no eggs and no chicks and nothing for CP et al to do. And while we're at it, why has CP stopped slipping in those surreptitious song titles ... I've tried to encourage him to bring them back .... 43-springwatch-subliminalities.html .. but to no avail. I think he got "leaned on" by "The management" to cut out any silly stuff. But seriously folks ..... they could make an effort to steer away from nest-ogling ... ... and have a broader look at ALL the birds in the area... .... and help viewers to ID them.. ..... you know it makes sense. I do feel a bit sorry for that poor woman who is stuck miles away in a huge puddle in a totally unflattering outfit. There should be a rota for that. And that Iolo W. should be teaching the viewers a bit of Welsh. He was talking about Jackdaws this week .... so why didn't he tell us their name ... Jac- y -do ...... Jack of the roof. A very apt name. And then he could tell the eager viewers that they won't find "do" in the dictionary. Because normally it is "to".... But sometimes it gets "soft-mutated" from "to" to "do". Fascinating. And then he could tell them all about the remarkable "Nasal" mutations too. And more. The possibilities are indeed amazing. Oo !
